Location ideas for opening a repair shop. Difference Between CDMA and GSMYou are here: How To's » Unlocking 1. Difference Between CDMA and GSMInformation on GSM vs CDMA Unlocking: Your average user doesn’t know that there are two major different technologies used for cell phones in the world; CDMA and GSM. While the majority of the world uses GSM, there are a few CDMA carriers scattered around the world. Here in the US though, it’s about 5. CDMA and 5. 0% GSM (one of the only countries to have such a high use of CDMA technology). Now, I won’t get into the differences between the two technologies in detail here as this is mainly focusing on how one must go about unlocking each of these technologies, we’ll save that for another post. CDMA has the carrier’s information they want you to use the phone on stored in the phone’s programming, whereas GSM phones have a semi- universal software security lock placed on the SIM card slot that tells the phone what SIM card is allowed to be used. Because of this, GSM phones can be unlocked using a passcode that the manufacturer has (or that can be generated using a keygen similar to a keygen for a hacked cd rom for your computer). Once that passcode is entered the phone will allow the use of any SIM card in the SIM card slot. CDMA, on the other hand, doesn’t have this unlocking passcode feature since it doesn’t have the GSM standard locking mechanism. Instead, CDMA phones must literally be physically flashed with different firmware that has the new CDMA carrier’s information in it for the phone to access that new network (in other words, to unlock a CDMA phone you need to literally plug it in and use a flashing software to flash the carrier you want to use’s information onto the phone). The Samsung support homepage is your starting point for help with Samsung products, featuring visual guides, manuals, support downloads, tech specs, troubleshooting, and answers. Cell phone repair, cellphone parts, unlocking for iPhone, Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG, Blackberry, Nokia, Sony. GSM and CDMA differ in terms of coverage. VERY IMPORTANT: No matter what you do to unlock a GSM/CDMA phone, they will ONLY work on a network with the same technology. So if you unlock a GSM phone, it will work on other GSM networks, but it will never work on a CDMA network (since there is no SIM card to put in the phone) and vise versa.*There is one exception to this rule. Some CDMA phones are made to be used as a dual CDMA/GSM phone. This is sometimes called “World Edition” and is used simply because if you take your CDMA phone from the US overseas (where this is very little CDMA carriers), you would not be able to use your phone UNLESS the phone is dual GSM/CDMA. Popular phones that do this are usually Blackberry devices and you can tell which they are because they have a SIM card slot under the battery. These dual CDMA/GSM phones CAN have the GSM slot unlocked via an unlock code (just like a normal GSM phone) and then you can use it on a GSM network of your choice (and just not use the CDMA part of the phone). Confused, yet? Ok, it’s table time: GSMCDMAUses a SIM card slot. Does NOT use a SIM card slot. Universal locking method means that all GSM locked phones have similar locks (which in turn means universal unlocking methods)Carrier information stored in the phone’s software. There is no built in locking software mechanism, so there is no simply unlocking method. GSM uses a passcode to lock the phone to a particular network’s SIM card. The passcode is needed one time to unlock the phone and allow a different SIM card to be used. CDMA phones must be flashed in person using a cable in order to get it to use a different CDMA network. Flash your phones to Cricket and Page Plus with the click of a button. Fast, Reliable Automated Flashing. The unlocking codes can be received from the manufacturer of the phone, or through a keygen program. This means the phone can be unlocked remotely with such a code. You must find a CDMA flasher/unlocker in your area to flash the phone to a different CDMA carrier you wish to use. CANNOT BE USED ON A CDMA NETWORK REGARDLESS OF IF IT IS UNLOCKED OR NOTCANNOT BE USED ON A GSM NETWORK REGARDLESS OF IF IT IS UNLOCKED OR NOT*To Unlock Your Phone: So in order to unlock a GSM phone, you can either get the code from you carrier or you can purchase one from an unlock code supplier, once you input the code, your phone will be able to use any GSM carrier you want by just swapping out the SIM card. In order to unlock your CDMA phone, you need to find a CDMA flasher/unlocker in your area and physically bring them your phone for them to flash to whatever network you want (you must know what network you are planning to use as they can only flash it to one carrier at a time). Also by studying cracks made in dried mud, and by the noises and movements of the earth in areas prone to earth changes. Israel Regardie wrote in his Practical Guide to Geomantic Divination (1. Aquarian Press, London): The major contribution of (geomancy) is not so much slanted in the direction of prediction of what is yet to come, but to facilitate the growth and expression of this inner psycho- spiritual ability. To this extent, any and all systems of divination may be considered useful. Amongst the more commonly used methods are the Tarot cards, astrology, palmistry, graphology, and many others. The method to be described here, geomancy, is favored above all others because it is basically so simple to operate. One can use it quickly to obtain a simple . A suitable stylus could be a wood pencil. In this form, determine a question or concern you have, and then using a pointed stick or stylus, make four lines of random dots in the sand—however many dots in each line that feels correct to you for each line. Then count the number of dots in each line, and on piece of paper record one dot if the total is odd, and two dots in the total is even. Complete one line, shake the sand box to clear the dots, and repeat the process. Astrology, Horoscope, Stars, planets, natal, Nostradamus, prediction, destinyof Geomancy. When you have completed the four lines, you will have made one of the 1. Each figure is composed of four lines, each line containing either one or two points. Each line represents one of the four classical elements: from top to bottom, the lines represent fire, air, water, and earth. When a line has a single point, the element is said to be active; otherwise, with two points, the element is passive. Much of the art of geomantic interpretation rests on this simple construction. You need to repeat the whole process to produce four complete figures of four lines each. Subsequently, you need to refer to a table of geomantic signs to determine the ones you have created, and read the descriptive associations to find the answer to the question. The four Mothers are placed in the top row of a chart, called a . The second Daughter is formed the same way using the second line from each of the Mothers, and likewise for the third and fourth Daughters. These four Daughters are placed on the top row of the Shield next to the Mothers to that there are eight positions in total on the top row. Beneath the top row of eight figures (four Mothers and four Daughters) we next form just four figures for the second line. In medieval sources these are named the four Nieces, but in modern books they are called Nephews. We will continue with the earlier tradition. The first Niece (again moving from right to left) is formed by adding together the two Mothers above the first Niece; the third and forth Mothers are added together to form the second Niece; the first and second Daughters (positions five and six in the top line) are added together to form the third Niece, and the fourth Niece is formed by adding together the third and fourth daughters. Thus, if the top line of the first two Mothers consist of three dots, that will . The same process is repeated with the third and fourth Mothers to product the second Niece, and again the same process is followed with the first and second Daughters to produce the third Niece, and likewise the fourth Niece is produced from the third and fourth Daughters. A similar process taking the first and second Nieces is used to form the Right Witness on the third line, and the Left Witness from the third and fourth Nieces. From the two Witnesses a third figure is derived and placed in the middle of the bottom line—the Judge. Sometimes a sixteenth figure is formed, called variously the Reconciler or the Superior Judge. However, two different processes are described in the literature: the first involves adding lines from the Judge and the First Mother; the second is more complex and involves adding the Judge to whatever figure corresponds to the subject of the question asked as found in the chart of the twelve houses to be found in more complete expositions than can be provided here. In further evolvement, the first twelve tetragrams are placed in a square zodiacal chart for a more in depth answer. The figures are placed in the houses of the square zodiac with the first Mother from the Shield placed in the first House, the second Mother in the second House, and so on. The Houses are those of traditional astrology, showing their essential European origin. Their meanings are: Querent (person asking the question)Money, moveable property. Siblings, neighbors, short trips. Father, home, real estate. Children, pleasure, gambling. Illness, servants, small animals. Marriage, romance, partners, open enemies. Death, inheritance. Higher education, long trips, spirituality. Career, government, reputation. Friends. Curses, secret enemies, imprisonment. In other operations, the Golden Dawn used the sixteen tetragrams as skrying symbols, as part of the Enochian magical system, and in creating geomantic sigils painted on talismans to attract particular energies. This is because you will likely install numerous applications on your computer over time. Some of these applications will be boxed software purchased from Office Depot or Staples, but most will probably be applications you've bought online after downloading free trial versions for evaluation. The problem is that many programs you buy from stores or download from the Internet will install programs or services that start up automatically whenever Windows starts. So after a while, starting Windows also means starting lots of other stuff that runs in the background, out of sight. If your computer has lots of memory, you might not notice too much of a startup delay. And of course some applications are justified in automatic startup- -antivirus programs and third- party firewalls being a good example. But a lot of applications start up programs or services when they really aren't needed, and those are the culprits you probably want to ferret out and eliminate. Of course, if you bought your computer . That's because PC vendors tend to load up the computers they sell with tons of extras, including system management tools, CD- burning utilities, paint programs, photo- processing tools, and lots of other stuff you may never even use. In Windows, how can I prevent a program from starting automatically? Often, a program starts automatically in Windows because of a shortcut in the Startup folder in. Here's How to Add and Remove Programs from Windows 8 Startup. Complete Step by Step Guide. Edit Article How to Remove Startup Programs. It is inevitable that as your computer ages it will soon begin to run slower and slower. Apps cannot be moved in the All Apps listing of the Windows 10 start menu. Find out how to move them anyway. It can be quite a revelation for ordinary users when they compare the startup time for a freshly installed XP machine with their own . Wow- -makes you want to go straight to Add or Remove Programs, start selecting things, and click Remove, Remove, Remove.
Unfortunately, sometimes removing these things can leave behind programs or services that still start up whenever Windows boots. Where do they hide? Finding Startup Programs. Programs and services that start whenever Windows boots do so in various ways. The simplest way is for the installation routine to create a shortcut to the program within the Startup folder for the current user (or for each user on the machine). To open your own Startup folder, click Start, then Run, and type the following: %userprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. The Startup folder common to all users on the machine can be found by opening this path: %allusersprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. When I try these two paths on my main Windows XP machine, my Startup folder is empty, but the common Startup folder has a shortcut to a power- monitoring utility from the vendor of the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) attached to my machine. Note that program shortcuts in the common Startup folder automatically run when any user logs on to your computer, so if I delete this shortcut, my UPS probably won't work as designed. Better leave it alone. Registry keys are another common way to launch programs or services at startup. Here are some registry keys you can examine to see what programs are starting automatically, followed by their description: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current. Version\Run. Values for this key are programs that start every time any user starts your computer. I just checked this key and found 1. Finding out what these programs are can sometimes be tricky. A value named DVDLauncher is likely just what it says it is, but what about a value named igfxpers? A good way to find out is to search for such values in Process. Library. com, which tells me that igfxpers. This program is a non- essential process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.! If I delete this registry value, my video card might not work, so better leave it alone, too. Another registry key to examine is: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current. Version\Run. This is similar to the previous one, but the difference (HKCU instead of HKLM) means that programs listed here as values will only be launched for the current user (me), not for all users. I find only two programs listed here, Windows Messenger (which I want to start up whenever Windows starts) and ctfmon. Process. Library. Microsoft Office Language Bar. I don't use that feature of Office so I'm tempted to delete this registry value, but a better approach would be to rerun Setup for Microsoft Office and remove this feature from my machine. Searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base tells me more. Similar to the previous key is this one: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current. Version\Windows\Run. This key isn't present on my machine, so there's nothing to worry about here. Just above it is this key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current. Version\Windows. Examine the value named Load here, because any programs listed in this value will run when any user logs on to your machine. There's more- -here are four places where programs that only need to run once can be found: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current. Version\Run. Once. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current. Version\Run. Once. Ex. HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current. Version\Run. Once. HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current. Version\Run. Once. Ex. My machine has the first two keys but not the others, and the keys have no values except Default. This makes sense however, because after a program listed here runs, the registry value associated with launching it is deleted. You can find more info about these keys here, here, and here. Here is one more key to examine: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current. Version\Winlogon. Within this key are a number of values. The two of interest to us, called Shell and Userinit, specify the default Windows shell and the user shell, respectively. Malicious spyware can replace these values with different ones; in one situation I've heard of, you try to logon to your machine but are immediately kicked out and presented with the logon box again. Nirmal Sharma, a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) has written a Community Solutions KB article concerning this issue and how you can fix it by remotely connecting to the affected machine's registry. A Community Solutions article is a KB article contributed by a member of the MVP community rather than Microsoft's own PSS team. These solutions aren't supported by Microsoft, but they're often terrifically helpful. To find more Community Solutions articles, try googling (oops, try using Google to search for) the string . These policies are found here: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon. User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon. Three relevant policies can be found in each of these two locations: Run These Programs At User Logon. Programs listed here obviously run every time Windows starts, in addition to any startup programs already listed in your own machine's registry. Do Not Process The Run Once List. If your administrator enables this policy, then any programs found in your Run. Once registry keys won't run when Windows starts on your machine. Enabling this policy is generally a good idea, as it helps prevent malware from launching on your machine. Do Not Process The Legacy Run List. If your administrator enables this policy, then any programs found in your Run registry keys won't run when Windows starts. Enabling this policy is also a good idea, as it helps prevent malware from running on your machine. Home users can also configure these policies manually on their machines, provided they are logged on with an account that has administrator credentials. Here's how: click Start, then Run, and type gpedit. This opens the Group Policy Editor and lets you edit your Local Computer Policy. Navigate to the appropriate place as specified above, and configure each policy as desired. Be careful, though: if your machine came . Use these policies on a home computer at your own risk; the main reason they're there is for network admins to maintain greater control over Windows workstations on their network, not for home users to start fiddling around with them. When you configure a policy like Run These Programs At User Logon, the list of programs you specify gets written to special sections of your registry, namely: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current. Version\Policies\Explorer\Run. HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current. Version\Policies\Explorer\Run. A malicious program could also write something to these registry keys, even if Group Policy is not being used on your network. Still another registry key to which setup programs sometimes write is: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current. Version\Shell. Service. Object. Delay. Load. Values here indicate DLLs that are loaded during startup to add special capabilities to the Windows shell. If you find anything here other than CDBurn, Post. Boot. Reminder, Sys. Tray, and Web. Check, you may have malware on your machine. Another way startup programs can run on a computer joined to a domain is if a startup or logon script runs when your computer starts or when you log on to your machine. Ask your network administrator about this if you're curious; it's not something that home users need to worry about. Then there's your Scheduled Tasks folder- -it's possible to create per- user tasks that schedule a program to run every time your computer boots, but you'll only find these kinds of tasks in the Scheduled Tasks folder in your administrator account. Ordinary users can also schedule tasks to run every time they log on to the computer, and these tasks generally run hidden in the background. Dealing With Startup Programs. In addition to finding startup programs manually using the steps I've listed above, you can also use tools like your System Configuration Utility (click Start, then Run, type Msconfig. OK, and select the Startup tab) or a third- party tool like Autoruns from Sysinternals. Once you've found all this junk though, how do you get rid of it? Removing items from your Startup folder (or the common Startup folder) is generally safe, but deleting values from your Registry should be done only as a last resort. How to Remove Startup Programs: 5 Steps (with Pictures)Edit Article. Community Q& AIt is inevitable that as your computer ages it will soon begin to run slower and slower. While this cannot be prevented entirely, one of the causes you can control is the number of startup programs you have added to your computer. Startup programs automatically run when you start your computer and unless you manually exit them when your computer is on will run in the background. This would not be a problem if your computer had unlimited memory, but since it does not this can be one of the causes of a frustratingly slow computer. Here are the steps you can take to remove some of the unnecessary startup programs you may have added over time to get your computer running faster again.
